a common space & database for harmonic overtones
Tone like Janus from the Greek mythology has two faces - and two very fundamental ones: time and space. Tone expresses itself through frequncy (time) and the corresponding wavelength (space).
You may say that the nature of tone is to join time and space in harmony. High notes (high frequency) correspond with short wavelengths; deep notes (low frequency) correspond with long wavelengths.
In a mathematical language:
f x lambda = c
frequency x wavelength is constant.
In air at 20 degrees celsius this constant is about 340 m/sec.
In other words the two aspects have a reverse proportionality to eachother: If one is waxing the other is waning.
