Do you know that there was a Russian composer who created music specially for the jew’s harp, including jew’s harp ensembles? His name was Rostislav Mironovich, he lived and worked for several years in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzia, where he met with folk Kyrgyz music and the jew’s harp (temur-komuz). He wrote a number of pieces for symphonic orchestra and was a leader of creating an Opera theatre in Bishkek, in the same period and many years later he wrote some melodies for jew’s harp based on folk tunes of USSR people (Kyrgyz, Ukrain, Russian and others) and author tunes also. One of them is “The Kyrgyz tune” that was played by Baikal jew’s harp ensemble.
