What Is Member Engagement?

Member engagement happens when members interact with each other. Interaction includes posting or commenting on a blog, forum discussion, photo or video. It may take the form of becoming friends with another member, giving an audicance, feedback or comment. It’s all about participation. In this way member engagement is more than just social networking buzzwords. It's the difference between a successful Network and a stale Web site. It's what makes this social network, well, social. And it's about more than simply that people sign up a network like Overtone Music Network. Members who sign up once and then never come back — they block only the flow of this network.  It doesn't matter if there's 100 members or 100,000 members. What matters is the number of members who are truly engaged. Therefore: be a secret admirer  or one of the recent active members - there is only one point: Please show us that you are here and participate . A short feedback is appreciated if you prefer to be only a secret admirer of this site.  But  more than this we love to read your appreciation and estimation about featured  and shared member content.

Participate in the forum

Your social social network's discussion forum is a great way to interact with other members. To  use the forum, just go to the Forum tab. Check out the existing discussions, or start your own by clicking the "Start Discussion" link. If you find an interesting discussion you'd like to participate in, just type your reply in the "Reply" box.

Write a blog news

Your profile page comes equipped with your very own blog on OMN. While threads in OMN forum are about community discussion, your blog is about you! On OMN you may want to write a blog  post detailing your CD releases, concerts complete with photos, or a post about your favorite concert venues. You can write about anything you want! To get started, go to your profile page  and locate the "Blog Posts" module on the left side above your profile photo. Click the "Blog Post" link.

Add comments

To interact with other members on OMN, you can add comments to their profile page or any of their photos, videos, or blog posts. Don't be shy - if you see an interesting photo, a impressive video, or a blog post you agree (or disagree!) with, let the author know by leaving a comment on  the photo, video, or blog post.

Just type your thoughts in the "Add a Comment" box below the piece of content you're commenting on:

You can also leave a comment on any member's profile page. Comments can be seen by any  member of Overtone Music Network, so don't use them to post personal information. They're  perfect for welcoming a new member or checking in with your friends.

To comment on someone's profile, go to their profile page and locate the Comment Wall in the middle column.

You can add text, link, images and files to comments, so enjoy!

Upload or add photos, videos

The fastest way to add content to your social network is by using the bulk media uploader to add  photos, videos. Adding media to your social network is a great way to share content
related to the topic of the social network. On Overtone Music Network, you might want to upload  photos or videos you took at a concert or festival.

Using the bulk media uploader, you can add up to 100 photos, 30 videos, or 100 songs at a time.  We support the following formats of media:

Photos: .jpg, .png, and .gif file formats

Videos: .mov, .mpg, .avi, .3gp and .wmv formats

You can also  import photos from your Flickr account, embed videos directly from YouTube,  GoogleVideo, or another site, and play external songs and podcasts. To get to the bulk media  uploader and to add photos or videos, go to your profile page and click the "Photos" or "Videos" link  in the left column of the page, under your profile photo. To upload music, go to your profile page  and locate the "My Music" module. Click the "Add Music" link. Here's what the bulk media  uploader looks like:

The left pane shows the file hierarchy on your computer. Use it to locate the photos, videos or  songs you want to upload. Drag them to the right pane to add them to the upload list.

Join or create a group

You can use groups on your social network to discuss a specific topic or to be connected with  members from your country. To browse existing groups, go to the Groups tab. Once you find a  group you like, click on it to view more information and to join! If the group is public, there will  be a link in the top right of the page where you can join the group.

If the group is private, you can send a request for an invitation to the group creator from the  group's page. If you don't see a group you'd like to join, create your own! Just go to the Groups tab and click the link at the top right of the page to "Create a group."

Fill in the required fields, marked with a red bar, for your group. Click "Create group" and your  group will be published. Don't forget to invite your friends to join. For more information on creating a group, check out this article.

Create an event

You can create events on your social network to commemorate special days or to meet up with  your friends on the social network. To create an event, go to the Events tab and click the "Add an Event" link.

Fill in the required fields, marked with a red bar, for your event.

Click the "Create Event" button and your event will be published. Normally - please invite only  your friends from your region to an event.
