I am a drummer/percussionist who grew up with a passion for sound and rhythm. My formative years were spent playing drum set in rock bands. I began listening to jazz in high school and later world music and 20th Century classical music. My interest in exploring ethnic percussion instruments took off about this time and after seeing Glen Velez perform on frame drums in the early 80's I was hooked.
I have also amassed a large collection of gongs, and other metal percussion instruments and perform solo gong concerts on these.
Instruments:
Frame drums, gongs & singing bowls are my primary instruments. Also play and own a multitude of other world percussion instruments as well as the conventional trap set.
Influences:
My influences are varied and eclectic. I love world music, rock, prog-rock, 20th century classical, jazz, and bluegrass. Frank Zappa one day, to Joni Mitchell the next.
