I'm playing Indian ragas on the sitar - an instrument producing a lot of overtones due to the special shape of its bridges and its resonating sympathetic strings.
The actual meaning of the word 'raga' (or 'raag', which is the original pronunciation in sanskrit) is 'that which colours the mind' - and in fact to me, playing a raga is like drawing a picture: In the alap, the basic melodic outline is sketched using the various hues of the Indian musical notes (swaras) with the shades of their constantly changing microtones (shrutis). Later on, faster strokes and brushes come into play filling the acoustic image with vibrant excitement.
Additional to Indian classical music I also do fusion projects with other musical styles, e.g. Jazz, Folk, Celtic, Ambient, Drum & Bass, western and middle Eastern classical, Pop, Rock etc.

Hello Christian - thanks a lot for finding and joining us. You are welcome! and can find all informations how you can use this network in the FAQ, the videos and blogs on my impressum page. Wish you new friend contacts here on OMN.
All the best, Jens
Great and cool Christian! You joined us nine hours ago and now you are a featured member because you have read the blog posts about the featuring? Hope we will meet us soon or later here in Berlin. Your music is fantastic and I am thankful that you share your music with us. I love /राग Jens
Hi Christian ... that's the best! For me it is normal too to link all my pages if it is possible. At first I featured nothing - no videos and no songs and no members - but this network is growing - that's really wonderful. Then I started the featuring on the main page and have to use some criteria ... but I noticed that some of these featured members don't use this network - so I began the featuring based on obligatory conditions ... - so it is the best what you have done today. Congratulations to your new homepage!
Yours Jens
Dear Christian, i like to listen to your sitar sounds and to feel the open space of your friendly heart and mind. Im looking forward to meet you live in a music session in Berlin.
