Teachers of overtones will know that a large proportion of their students are people with extra-special qualities. With the exception of people inspired by ego, a great corruptor, it takes a very special kind of person to be passionate about harmonics. Qualities in abundance seem to be sensitivity to sound, openness and curiosity, willingness to explore, commitment to personal development, interest in culture and inspirations of nature and happiness with the unfamiliar. I have surmised (perhaps wrongly) that to get to one amazing person, you have to get through ten thousand more regular people. What do you think? Tell us about your amazing students.
