CALLING OVERTONE SINGERS

Dear Overtone Singers around the world, You are invitated to submit excerpts of your overtone singing and BECOME PART OF HARMONIC HISTORY. You can be one of many stars of a compilation DVD devoted to harmonic singing, overtone singing, undertone singing and throat singing. This dvd is currently being compiled featuring multiple excerpts of people overtone singing. It is hoped that many of the world's best overtone singers will be featured in this. This DVD will be given away as an insert with every sale of a new book soon to be published: the Bonsai Book of Overtone Singing. Already a number of 10-15 seconds excerpts have been compiled - all with permission. It will be assumed that those who submit their video excerpts are giving their approval to be featured on the DVD. Please note that there will be no royalties payable to contributors. Guidelines: MP4 format is acceptable. People are invited to make a number of submissions. It is recommended 15-20 seconds per item. Most submissions will be solo efforts, but group efforts will be accepted. Please email submissions to magicsounds@mac.com and please don't wait too long before sending.

  • Hi, Dean,

I missed the boat on this one! I've only just discovered and joined the site. I'm also a rank amateur with a strong interest in the Gyuto chanting technique rather than a broad musical perspective. I haven't got any sample recordings of my own sound to link from the site yet but I suppose I should put something up soon.

Anyway, Jens Mügge mentioned you so I thought I'd just say hello.

    Cheers,

    V.
    • Hi Vicki, Welcome to OMN and our terrific collection of sound explorers. Like you I also find the Gyuto chanting is one of many highlights. I can speak very highly of Jens who is responsible for all of this and many others on the network. In what country do you do most of your singing?

      Best, Dean
  • You are writing it is recommended 15-20 sec per item. So have a look and an ear to this this and this draft
    • Dear Jens,

Thank you for submitting to my overtone dvd. I am very impressed with your overtone skills. Your excerpts will be excellent for my dvd.

      Best, Dean
    • and my last draft with 50 sec
  • Hi Marco,

Good questions - I'm just starting this so I'll learn some answers as things develop. At the moment I'm confident of working with MP4s but if they work in other formats then fine. One email is fine and so is more. I look forward to seeing your entry/ies.
    • Ok Dean,
sorry for my questions but they can be useful for all:

does exist a text/rule for submissions, a particular form, or writing about interesting will be enough?
For example: Hi, I am .... and I am interested to send to you my video clip for the Bonsai Book of Overtone Singing project.

      Is it right?

      Thanks
  • Hi Dean,
it is very interesting, so people have to send only 1 email to magicsounds@mac.com, or more?
    Only MP4 videos?
